How long have you been in Newtown? I grew up in Newtown and graduated from Newtown High School in 1979, but now we live in Southbury.

What do you like to do in your free time? I do like to golf. I like spending time with my family and I coach my kids’ basketball teams in the winter. I’m involved in a lot of charity work for Newtown, too. I like electronics. Boys like their toys, you know — wall TVs, all those man toys. I’m a gadget guy.

What is your favorite gadget right now? I think it’s my iPhone. I’ve been through every level of iPhone. As they change, I change. My whole life is on my phone.

Do you have a favorite movie? I like sports movies. I love Tin Cup, with Kevin Costner. It’s about golf. I love all of the sports movies, though.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? I’ve been to a lot of good places: Kiawah Island, S.C., Pebble Beach, Scotland, Pine Valley, N.J. My travel destinations usually are golf destinations with my members from Rock Ridge. As a family, we really enjoy the West Coast of Florida.

What is the best thing about Newtown? I think it still gives you that small town feeling here. And the town is very supportive. I see in the charity work that the community always backs you.

What is the biggest change you have seen in Newtown? The biggest change is that the population has grown. I lived on Grand Place and we used to bike up and down Church Hill Road and Main Street. It’s a little busy for that, now. The schools were smaller, too. From a sports point of view, we used to have 12 guys who played every sport. It’s a different game now.

Do you have a personal philosophy? I believe in Karma. I always tell my children that they should do the right thing, and good things will happen. It’s worked for me. I’m a pretty fortunate guy.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? I have an unbelievable number of golf clubs. I tinker with clubs for my golf swing. I probably have 120 putters and 60 or 70 drivers. And I always think I’m going to use them all….
