Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation is a nonprofit organization that works to promote compassion and healing through human-animal connection. The foundation was gifted 34 acres of farmland in 2014, which has since become Catherine Violet Hubbard (CVH) Animal Sanctuary, located at 8 Commerce Road. CVH Animal Sanctuary hosts a variety of events that promote education, compassion, and curiosity for animals of all kinds.

Part of its programming includes programs that promote physical and mental wellbeing for attendees. Goat Yoga is one of these programs, with multiple sessions being offered over the next few months. Goats from Bradley Mountain Farm will join humans in their yoga session led by Heather Morgado of YogaSpace. Morgado will lead attendees through gentle movement and mindful breathing while goats explore and play. Attendees should wear comfortable clothing and bring a towel for their yoga mats. Classes are $35 and attendees must be 10 or older on the day of the event.

Goat Yoga is being offered on Saturday, August 1 and Saturday, September 12. Each day offers two sessions — the first session is from noon-12:50 pm and the second is from 1-1:50 pm. Registration is required and can be completed by visiting cvhfoundation.org.

On Saturday, August 22, 3-4 pm, Julie Moffat will return to lead Qigong — “The Five Elements.” Rooted in ancient Chinese healing traditions, qigong is a mindful self-care practice that weaves together slow, flowing movements, relaxed breathing, meditation, and soothing self-massage to awaken and balance the body’s natural energy.

In this beginner-friendly class, attendees will learn the foundations of a simple, sustainable qigong practice designed to nourish both body and spirit. Participants will explore gentle movement, self-acupressure, lymphatic massage to support immune health, guided meditation, and sound healing for deep vibrational relaxation and restoration. Practices are accessible to all adult ages with options to participate standing or seated in a chair.

Moffat is a certified Level II Radiant Lotus Women’s Qigong instructor. Her unique style of teaching using intelligent movement, sound, and deep visualizations guides individuals to feel empowered and safe in their healing journey. She is part of the Integrative Medicine department at Smilow Cancer Hospital/Yale New Haven Health, where she teaches weekly classes and workshops for patients and caregivers. She also has an active teaching schedule around Fairfield County, including senior centers (Parkinson’s groups), assisted living homes (Alzheimer’s & dementia groups), mindfulness centers, and vibrant outdoor beach classes.

Registration is required and can be completed by going to cvhfoundation.org. The class costs $35.
