Endorses Lamont
To The Editor:
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to urge my fellow Democrats to join me in supporting my friend, our Governor, Ned Lamont in the Democratic Primary on August 11th. I have known Governor Lamont for over 20 years and have found him to be not only a good Governor but also a good and kind person.
Governor Lamont has done a very good job despite having to deal with the added costs and difficulties brought about by the terrible policies of the Trump Administration including those that took health care away from many of our fellow citizens, raised the cost of healthcare premiums for others, and took food support from the less fortunate including children. In addition, Governor Lamont has often not only had to overcome opposition from Republicans in the State Legislature, but even more difficult has been the extreme positions of Legislators in our own party, like those of his opponent, Josh Elliott and others in the radical left of the Democratic Party.
I believe that supporting Governor Lamont in the primary on August 11th should be any easy choice, not only because he has been a good Governor, but also because Josh Elliott would be a bad one. I say this due to the positions Elliott supported and the ideas Elliott espoused, such as abolishing the police, a ridiculous proposal Elliott made a few years ago and which he has yet to renounce.
We Democrats need to realize that it is the extreme positions Elliott and others like him in our party have proposed that frightened moderate voters and helped to elect Trump.
Once again, fellow Democrats please join me in voting for Governor Ned Lamont in the Democratic Primary on Tuesday, August 11th.
