Garner Inmate Arrested On Assault Charge

State police report that as a correction officer at Garner Correctional Institution was making his rounds of a cellblock at the high-security prison on Nunnawauk Road early on the morning of July 20, an inmate there spat on the officer.

State police said they were alerted to the situation at 12:42 am and went to the prison to investigate.

State police charged inmate Joseph Ogman, 33, with assault on a public safety officer and with refusal to be fingerprinted. Ogman was scheduled for arraignment in Danbury Superior Court on July 21.

Ogman is an unsentenced inmate at Garner being held on $140,000 bail on a pending charge of first-degree assault.
