The Trouble With The Left

To the Editor,

I read the July 15 letter by Laura E. Lerman, titled “A Bleeding Heart Liberal On The Fourth,” and how she “every day, reads The New York Times, and every day reads the names of the fallen soldiers.”  I carefully read her criticism of the war-on-terror, in an attempt to find some mention of the September 11th attack, but found nothing. I’m pretty sure the NY Times printed something about the terrorist attack, and I seem to recall some footage on TV, too.

It’s a huge disservice to the brave men and women, who made the ultimate sacrifice in this war, to suggest they died needlessly. Our military men and women remember the nearly 3,000 innocent civilians who died that fateful day, and voluntarily sacrifice their own lives, to prevent this from ever happening to our nation again. They are our true heroes!

Therein lies the trouble with the left. They quickly forget (or deliberately ignore) the cause of the problem, and then focus on attacking those who respond accordingly, after examining both sides. In fairness, I must admit the left has improved somewhat in this respect in the last 40 years. At least they no longer attack our military, as John Kerry did with his “blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan” testimony, when he smeared our Vietnam vets!

It would be very nice if Laura could just occasionally read the names of the nearly 3,000 innocent victims of September 11th, in her daily readings, so she won’t forget about them again. After all, they are the reason our military heroes have selflessly given their lives!
