Christian Musical Event Is Returning To CityCenter For Its 9th Year

DANBURY — The ninth annual One Heart Festival, the first major Christian musical event in the Danbury region since Luis Palau’s packed-house Mission Connecticut Festival last spring, will be Saturday, August 18, on Danbury’s CityCenter Green from 1 to 5 pm.

The festival, being produced with the assistance of the Danbury-area Palau organization, will feature a blend of local and regional performers.

Performers this year include the Annie Moses Band from New Milford; Bob Stanhope & Cornerstone, a folk-country band from Brewster, N.Y.; Jonah, a rock band from Bedford, N.Y.; A Better Way, a multi-style band from Norwalk; and Ministerio de Musica Vida no Espirito Santo, a Brazilian Portuguese-language band and chorus from Danbury.

In addition, three Danbury-area youth dance troupes – the Joybells Dance Ministry from New Hope Baptist Church in Danbury, the Prophets from His Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Bethel, and the youth dancers from Victory Christian Center in Danbury – are scheduled to perform.

Other features at this year’s festival will include a prayer tent for those who want to pray in the company of supportive Christians. Several churches and other Christian groups will run commercial and game booths this year. Churches wishing to participate should call 748-4972.

The festival is being supported by Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel; Community of the Cross, a non-denominational prayer group in Danbury; and the Danbury chapter of the Christian Motorcyclists Association, with additional assistance from the Greater Danbury/Eastern New York Mission, successor to the organization that coordinated Palau’s recent three-day festival in Danbury.

Admission to the festival is free. All-day-rate parking will be available at the municipal garage across the street from the green. Rain date is August 19.

For further information, call 748-4972 or visit the festival’s Web site, www.1heartonline.org.
