Ruth Rowe was 4-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored to lead Flagpole Realty to a 12-4 win over Grooming Finalists in recent Newtown Women’s Slo-Pitch Softball League action.

Jen Good hit 3-for-4 and crossed the plate three times while Lynn Baylis and Cindy Stierle also were 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Flagpole. Margie Jones went 2-for-4, hitting her sixth homerun of the season. Patrice Fahey played an exceptional game in left field.

Flagpole Realty defeated CMC Concrete, 24-3, as Margie Jones went 4-for-4 with three doubles, a single, and four runs scored. Jen Good was 3-for-3 with three runs as Cindy Stierle, Tricia Marple and Ruth Rowe each went 3-for-4 and combined for seven runs scored. Misty MacKenzie and Ruth Rowe fielded a flurry of hits to third and short.

Newtown Exxon defeated CMC Concrete, 12-5, in the first game of a doubleheader as Leslie DiIorio, Justine Sumple and Lisa Cascella all went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. For CMC, Tina Fiorella, Jodi Maciolek and Noreen Guman all went 3-for-3 and combined for four runs scored while Steff Pinto had a hit and a run scored.

In the second game, Exxon defeated CMC, 10-9, as Rachel Dargenio went 3-for-3 and Justin Sumple went 3-for-3 with two singles and a triple. Vicki Thomas went 3-for-3 and Melissa Eigen sparkled at shortstop, making three putouts in one inning. For CMC, Liz Kiley collected four hits and drove in three runs as Pam Baker, Jen C and Peg Bower all went 3-for-3 with two runs scored

Fireside Inn smashed Newtown Exxon, 17-2, as Laura Howard was 3-for-3 with a triple, Karen Katrinak was 3-for-3 and Ali Cordova was 4-for-4. Katie Barry and Rabiya Ansari were outstanding in the field. For Exxon, Justine Sumple and Laura Mathison both doubled as Leslie DiIorio and Carrie Warner played well in the field. Patti Powers pitched a good game.

Fireside Inn followed up with a 16-11 win over Flagpole Realty. Bethany Trzaskos’ home plate catch in the top of seventh sealed the game for Fireside. Katie Barry sparked the offense with a three-run double as Jeanne Sampson, Karen Katrinak and Bethany Trzaskos were all 3-for-3. For Flagpole, Lisa Doyla and Carolyn Signorelli each went 3-for-4, scoring two runs, as Ruth Rowe went 3-for-4, scoring three runs. Margie Jones had three hits, including a two-run homer. Patrice Fahey played well in the field.
