CCS To Host Summer Sing-In

BROOKFIELD — The Connecticut Choral Society, with conductor Eric Dale Knapp, will host its annual summer sing-in Monday evening, August 27.

The special event is open to all adult singers.

The music for the 2012 gathering will be Franz Schubert’s Mass No. 2 in G Major, D.167. Cost is $7, which includes the use of the music plus refreshments.

Registration will begin at 7 pm, with singing commencing at 7:30.

The Summer Sing this year will be held at Valley Presbyterian Church, 21 West Whisconier Road in Brookfield (off Route 25). For full directions, visit ValleyPresbyterianChurch.com or CTChoralSociety.org.

CCS sing-ins serve a number of purposes. The gatherings offer singers an opportunity either to sight-read or revisit a major work, to give nonsingers a chance to hear an “on-the-spot” performance while gaining an appreciation for choral rehearsal techniques, and for all to become acquainted with Connecticut Choral Society, its director, and its activities.

Founded in 1980, CCS is an ensemble of auditioned singers from more than 20 towns in Connecticut, under the direction of Mr Knapp.

The public is also welcome to attend the event as spectators.
