B’nai Israel Annual Picnic, August 8

SOUTHBURY — B’nai Israel, the Reform Jewish congregation of Southbury, will hold its annual membership picnic on Sunday, August 8, at 3 pm, in the pavilion at Ballantine Park, Old Field Road.

“Prospective new members are invited to meet Rabbi Eric Polokoff and music director Linda Goodman,” said Dennis Guillaume, a picnic committee volunteer. “Families and individuals are welcome to learn about our religious school, weekly religious services, and opportunities for study.” Additional members of the synagogue will also be on hand to answer questions.

B’nai Israel of Southbury serves Reform Jews from Waterbury to Newtown, Litchfield to Oxford.

The summer picnic precedes both the fall High Holy Days (Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur) and the new religious school year, said Mr Guillaume, a time when unaffiliated families and individuals often decide to join.

The picnic will be rain or shine, and will include lawn games and other activities for children. Hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, and other fare will be served, kosher style of course.

For information or to register, call the synagogue office at 203-267-3394.
