Counterfeit Cash Passed At

Drug Store

Police are investigating an incident in which $400 in counterfeit currency was passed at a local drug store.

On Thursday, July 29, an unidentified male entered the CVS/Pharmacy at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street and used four counterfeit $100 bills to buy a money order, police report.

Police urge people who work at businesses to check the security features on currency, such embedded security strips and watermarks, to ensure the authenticity of currency.

Police said they are not aware of any other recent counterfeit cash incidents at local businesses.

Police ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 203-426-5841.
