Police report that while on patrol in Sandy Hook on the afternoon of July 29, they spotted a motorist who was suspiciously driving a vehicle back and forth on Alberts Hill Road.

A short time later, at about 1:39 pm, while conducting a patrol at 32 Alberts Hill Road at the former Cornerstone At Eagle Hill grounds, police said they spotted two men who were trespassing near one of the abandoned buildings there.

Police said the two men led them on a foot chase for about one-eighth of a mile through a wooded area before being caught.

Cornerstone At Eagle Hill formerly was a private drug/alcohol addiction treatment center. The 22-acre complex closed for business about 15 years ago. The site has multiple buildings.

Police said that after investigating, they charged Michael Ottoshavett, 36, of 117 Huntingtown Road with conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, possession of burglary tools, and possession of a dangerous weapon (switchblade knife).

Police said they charged James Randall, 34, of Seymour with conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, and sixth-degree larceny.

Police said that Lisa Ottoshavett, 37, of 117 Huntingtown Road, who earlier had been driving the vehicle suspiciously on Alberts Hill Road, is Michael Ottoshavett’s wife. Ms Ottoshavett allegedly was the driver for the planned burglary, police said.

Police said they charged Ms Ottoshavett with conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

After arrest processing at the police station, police released the three people on $10,000 bail each for August 12 arraignments in Danbury Superior Court.

Police Patrol Officer Adam James investigated the incident.

Newtown Police Department will be taking a no-excuses approach to seatbelt law enforcement, writing citations day and night, during the current Click It Or Ticket seatbelt use campaign.
