Ms Lawrence says that she incorporates decades of study to create her own style, which she describes as an eclectic, fun, tough-love approach to yoga.

"My philosophy is deeply rooted in the idea of finding balance and symmetry in the body to avoid injuries, so you can be great no matter what you do to improve your body and fitness level," Ms Lawrence explained.

This August will be the first time she is attending the Newtown Yoga Festival, and she is looking forward to it. "I am particularly excited," said Ms Lawrence, "because I live in Putnam County [which is] very close to Newtown."

Since the festival was originally created as a means to help the local community cope after the Sandy Hook tragedy, she anticipates creating her class at the festival to include yoga poses "designed to heal the heart and open the power of voice."

She added that she will be focusing on "fun, laughs, sweat, and mindfulness."

On her website, she has a list of "Words to Live By," which are motivational phrases she believes in wholeheartedly. She hopes her message of "Community outreach heals the heart!" will resonate with the Newtown Yoga Festival audience.

"Anybody can do yoga and be great at it," Ms Lawrence said. "Yoga can not only heal the heart, the brain, and give power to your voice, but it is pretty fun too!"

Co-headliner Ms Brower has been teaching yoga and meditation since 1999, and has offered large-scale classes at a variety of spectacular locations like the Eiffel Tower and the Museum of Modern Art. She also instructs weekly and monthly courses in New York City.
