*Library Cat II with Paula Hughes: The first installment of our giant cat bookends is on display in the children’s room.

If you want to contribute to Library Cat II, Newtown resident and artist Paula Hughes will conduct two more workshops, on Wednesdays, August 12 and 19, both starting at 3:30. The workshops are for ages 8-18.

*Rose’s Foal: Meet Scarlett Lewis, author of Rose’s Foal, a children’s book about a real foal named Little Chief, on Thursday, August 13, at 3:30 pm, in the library meeting room.

Little Chief was born on Wild Rose Farm in Newtown shortly after September 11. His story teaches lessons about the goodness of life and the never-ending love between mother and child.

Throughout her life Ms Lewis has been involved with all aspects of equine affairs including showing, racing and breeding. Children will have an opportunity to meet one of Scarlett’s horses and purchase a signed copy of her book.

Register online at CHBoothLibrary.org.

*Beyond Candy Land: High school teacher, dad and self described board game nerd Eric Paradis will bring a variety of modern European board games for children and their parents to explore together in a two hour board game open house on Friday, August 14, from 3 to 5 pm, in the library meeting room.

Eric will provide the games and the instructions. Recommended for children 3-9 and their parents. Register online at CHBoothLibrary.org.
