Library Youth Program To Feature Fantasy Woodland Houses

Artist and teacher Katie Stevenson is returning to C.H. Booth Library for a special program called “Woodland Houses for Fantastical Creatures,” to be presented Tuesday, August 11, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm, in the Story Room. A sample of a woodland house constructed from natural materials such as feathers, dried flower blossoms, and shining gems is on display in the case on the second floor of the library.

In this fantasy workshop, crafters ages 8 to 18 will be making a small woodland house for imaginary beings of mystical legends. In the tradition of these legends, a gift of welcome must be left inside each dwelling to charm these magical beings into living there.

Participants will also create a small fantastical being from sculpting material, wire, and dried materials to go with the woodland dwelling.

Crafters are requested to bring an assortment of natural dried materials to add to the house, such as shells, bark, leaves, flowers, and nuts. There is a supply fee of $5 payable at the program. Signups are online at ctboothlibrary.org.
