Bank Branch Opens In The Big Y
(with cut)
CFS Bank, a $1.8 billion community-oriented savings bank headquartered in
Woodhaven, Queens, this week officially marked the opening of its latest
supermarket banking branch in the Big Y in the Newtown Shopping Center on
Queen Street. First Selectman Herb Rosenthal was on hand Monday for the
official ribbon cutting at the in-store bank at Big Y.
CFS Bank's supermarket banking locations are complete, full-service branches
staffed by banking professionals who can provide services ranging from setting
up "positively free" checking accounts to mortgages and home equity loans. The
bank is also offering "SmartMoney" T-Bill CDs, IRAs, and a full line of
investments, including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and life insurance.
Shoppers can apply for a mortgage or home equity loan right on the spot and
leave the supermarket with groceries -- and a mortgage pre-qualification
letter -- in hand.
All CFS Bank in-store locations are open seven days a week with extended
hours. The branch in the Newtown Big Y will be open from 10 am to 7 pm, Monday
through Saturday, and from 11 am to 4 pm on Sunday.
"The good people of Newtown deserve a convenient place to bank and shop all at
the same time," explained Anthony P. Cambria, vice president and director of
marketing for CFS Bank. "We're more than happy to be the ones to make life --
and banking -- a lot easier for Connecticut residents."
