with cut: World Series Fan Had A Ball!

Every kid dreams of catching a baseball while at a game and Michael Barbour

had his chance at Game 6 of the 1996 World Series between the New York Yankees

and Atlanta Braves.

He needed a little help from the umpire, though.

Michael was with his father, David, at Game 6 in a first-row field level box

down the first base line. A foul ball off the bat of Derek Jeter came thataway

and Michael, like dozens of other people, leaned over the railing to try and

get a mitt on it.

He missed.

But the rightfield line umpire made the stab and flipped the ball backhanded

to Michael.

So the New York Yankees had their first World Championship in 18 years and

Michael Barbour had his ball.
