Bob McLaughlin layed in two of his game-high 29 points with five seconds on

the clock, giving the Newtown High boys' basketball team a 68-67 lead over

Bad weather knocked out the week's sporting events so Glory Days explored the

week's classified ads where a brand new 1951 Studebaker Champion Regal Club

Coupe was selling for $1,795. And if you happened to have a spare $1,000

laying around you could have filled your garage with a 1940 Studebaker

Champion 4-door, a 1939 Oldsmobile 6-cylinder Sedan, a 38 Ford 4-door, a 39

Pontiac 4-door, a 38 Chevy 4-door, and a 35 Plymouth Coupe (all for $955). Oh,

a place to live. An 1846 home with wide-board oak floors, two fireplaces,

dining room, living room, kitchen, library, two baths, five bedrooms, hot-air

heat, a brook, a swimming pool, a guest cabin, and a horse shed, on 25 acres

The Newtown Bolwing Alleys were astir as Ed Oberstadt rolled ten steady ten

envied by bowlers throughout the land; and one that will never be excelled on

any alley. "
