Town Awarded Small Cities Grant

Newtown has been awarded a $300,000 Small Cities Community Development Block

Grant intended to help eligible families repair their homes.

The grant is provided to the town to help low- and moderate-income families

rehabilitate their housing.

The state awarded the US Department of Housing and Urban Development grant to

Newtown.

A portion of the money will be used to install a new water pump at the

Nunnawauk Meadows apartment complex for the elderly on Nunnawauk Road.

A previous block grant was used by the town to help families fix their homes

and to also to install new locks, door handles and windows at Nunnawauk

Meadows.

Applicants for the financial assistance must meet income criteria to qualify

for the money. Applications for funding are available at the community

development office in Edmond Town Hall.
