Youth Charged In Scuffle With Police
Police lodged six charges against a youth August 2 after he was involved in a
scuffle in which one officer received hand and wrist injuries.
Police said they responded to a call just before 1 am in which they were told
someone was attempting to break into a Riverside Road home.
Police said they found a 15-year-old boy at the scene who had been attempting
to break into the house. Because of his age, the youth wasn't identified by
police.
When police placed the boy into a patrol car, he kicked its windows and
prisoner cage, police said. While attempting to restrain the youth, the boy
kicked a car door onto the hand of Acting Lieutenant Henry Stormer, injuring
Stormer's hand and wrist, police said.
After being put back into the car, the boy kicked out the rear window of the
police car causing more than $250 in damage, police said. Police then put
restraints on the boy and drove him to the police station.
Police charged the boy with: assault on a police officer; interfering with
police; second-degree criminal mischief; attempted second-degree burglary;
criminal trespassing, and using a motor vehicle without the owner's
permission.
The boy was then transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of abrasions
and for observation, police said.
Police released the boy into the custody of a parent for an appearance in
Danbury Juvenile Court.
Acting Lt. Stormer was treated for his injury at Danbury Hospital and then
released.
