Where Milk Comes From- Country Nursery Schoolers Visit Kearns Dairy Farm

(with photos)

BY DOROTHY EVANS

The end of the school year usually coincides with the arrival of fine spring

weather - and that's good news for the children of the Country Nursery School

in Sandy Hook.

Good weather means that now everyone can spend more time playing outside and

maybe take a field trip to see what's happening around town.

"It's our time to travel," said Country Nursery School Director Veronica Boyce

on Monday, as she related the details of their recent jaunt to the Kearns

Dairy Farm on Bennetts Bridge Road in Sandy Hook.

"Farmer Ed" Kearns welcomed the children and took them on a tour that included

a visit to the barn, a ride on the farm tractor and a chance to "hand-milk" a

cow, as Mrs Boyce described it.

One little girl's experience at the farm turned out to be great source of

amusement for her grandfather, Mrs Boyce said, speaking of student Corrinne

Santiago.

"He got a big chuckle out of the idea. He said Corrinne was born as far away

as you can get from a farm - Manhattan!" Mrs Boyce laughed.
