Library Groundbreaking Will Be March 19

Dirt will fly as First Selectman Bob Cascella, Trustees and Friends of the

Cyrenius Booth Library break ground March 19 for the $4.1 million addition.

The event is viewed as a milestone by all who have worked on the project.

"This is a glorious day," said Board of Trustee President Gordon Williams.

"We've worked four years for this and it's pretty amazing."

Although the library will be housed in a temporary location during

renovations, Mr Williams said the services will be contiuous. "When we open up

again in roughly 13 months, it will be to a beautifully expanded facility," he

said. "In the meantime we look forward to a year of some festivities sponsored

by the Board of Trustees and Friends of Library. These festivities might

include a Scrabble tournament and a ball."

The renovations and 22,000 sq ft addition will provide study rooms, expanded

computer facilities, a larger program room for children, expanded business and

research sections, more parking, a multi-purpose room, music room, restore the

reading room, and allow display of some of the historical artifact and art

collections.
