P&Z Consideration Of Historic District Delayed

The Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) meeting scheduled for March 7 was

canceled due to inclement weather, postponing consideration on four land use

proposals.

The P&Z now plans to consider a proposal to create a historic district along

Main Street at its March 21 session.

The P&Z serves as the borough's planning commission. It will make a

recommendation on the historic district proposal to the Borough Zoning

Commission.

Also at the March 21 session, the P&Z is slated to hold a public hearing on a

request from Martin W. Handshy to resubdivide Lot 7 into two lots at the

Newbury Hills residential subdivision. The proposal concerns 8 acres at 5

Newbury Road, near the Brookfield town line.

At an April 4 meeting, P&Z members will conduct three public hearings which

had been scheduled for March 7.

Glenmill Corporation is seeking approval for a change of zone from M-4

(Industrial) to Sandy Hook Design District (SHDD) for the Rocky Glen Mill at

75 Glen Road. The corporation wants the change of zone to allow it to open an

antiques shop in the massive red brick building commonly known as Fabric Fire

Hose.

Also at the April 4 session, the P&Z will conduct a public hearing on a

proposal from PSD Partnership a the 19-lot residential subdivision known as

Whispering Pines on 26 acres on Cherry Street, Pine Street, and Narragansett

Road in Sandy Hook.

Also on April 4, the P&Z is scheduled to hear a request from High Meadow Farm

Associates for the resubdivision of Lots 13 and 19 at the Cobblers Ridge

residential subdivision. The developers want to create 14 new lots on 77 acres

on Cobblers Mill Road and Mountain Manor Road in Sandy Hook.

P&Z sessions are held at 8 pm in Town Hall South, 3 Main Street.
