Town Hires A New Conservation Official
GENNEWS
The town has hired a New Fairfield man as the municipal conservation official.
Christopher Majewski has been with the state Department of Environmental
Protection (DEP) since 1993 as an environmental analyst.
Mr Majewski replaces David Thompson, who recently resigned as the town's
conservation official.
Before joining the DEP, Mr Majewski was an environmental enforcement officer
for New Fairfield in 1992 and 1993. He was an environmental enforcement
officer in Danbury from 1988-90.
Mr Majewski is a graduate of University of Connecticut at Storrs with a
bachelor of science in natural resources. He did postgraduate work in
environmental science at the University of Rhode Island.
Mr Majewski will start work in Newtown on May 19 at a salary of $43,000.
The conservation official administers and enforces regulated environmental
activities, including the development of wetland areas. He also oversees open
space, forest and floodplain issues.
In another land use hiring, Janet Burns has been named the town's land use
administrator.
Ms Burns started as land use administrator on Monday. She replaces Rita
Macmillan, who resigned recently.
Ms Burns' promotion leaves open her former town job as land use secretary.
