A Connie Fraser Quilt Is Once Again Competing Among The Best
PADUCAH, KY. - Connie Harris Fraser of Newtown is a finalist in the nation's
largest and most prestigious quilt competition, the American Quilter's Society
13th Annual Quilt Show & Contest. Her quilt, titled "She Who Laughs, Lasts!,"
will be exhibited April 24-27 in Paducah, where it will compete with quilts
from 46 states and eight foreign countries for more than $85,000 in cash
awards.
Mrs Fraser has been entering - and winning - quilt contests across the country
for years, and is a member of a few quilting guilds, including The Scrapbag
Quilters of Newtown.
"Once again, the AQS Show & Contest has attracted the world's finest hand- and
machine-crafted contemporary quilts unsurpassed for their unique colors,
elaborate designs and technical quality," said Meredith L. Schroeder,
president, American Quilter's Society. The society was founded in 1984. It is
dedicated to promoting the study and development of quilts and the
accomplishments of quilters.
"The Connie Harris Fraser quilt is an outstanding example of the beauty and
quality of quilting as one of the world's most treasured art forms," Mrs
Schroeder added.
The Connie Harris Fraser quilt is in the Innovative Pieced, Professional
Category. If selected for a purchase award, Mrs Fraser's quilt would become
part of the permanent collection of the Museum of the American Quilter's
Society. The 30,000-square foot, climate-controlled facility was built
exclusively for the showcasing and preservation of quilts.
