Retirement Brings An End To A Popular Nursery School

The Country Nursery School is closing with the retirement of Veronica Boyce.

Mrs Boyce said the nursery school started 31 years ago, with her own daughter,

and grew to a program with 32 children in 1996-97.

To ease into retirement, Mrs Boyce only took 17 pre-schoolers during the

1997-98 school year.

Mrs Boyce will miss the children, but thinks that this is the right time to

retire. She said "You know how some people stay in jobs when they ought to

give it up? I didn't. I'm leaving on an up-note."

With balloons and cake, hugs and warm wishes, many Newtown families came to

wish Mrs Boyce all the best in her retirement.
