The Book Nook, a year-round book sale sponsored by the Friends of the Cyrenius
H. Booth Library, has opened at Sharon's Coffee & Tea, 49 Church Hill Road.
More than 200 new and like new hardcover books are for sale at prices
comparable to those featured at the annual Labor Day book sale sponsored by
the Friends.
The books include fiction (including science fiction and horror/occult),
mysteries, cookbooks, travel and collecting, children's books, philosophy and
poetry.
The Book Nook is re-supplied twice a week. Every two weeks the selection
changes.
"Books that sold for $22 two years ago we are now selling for $4," said
Barbara Yarborough, the project coordinator. "I have about 2,000 titles in my
dining room to stock the store until the (former) A&P becomes available."
Joseph Kasper, owner of the Queen Street shopping center, has donated space to
house the approximately 100,000 books that will be sold at the book sale in
September.
Volunteers are needed this Sunday to move about 60,000 of the books from the
library to the shopping center for storage while the construction project is
underway at the library. Call the library at 426-4533, or just show up 8 am
Sunday at the library. The move will take about three hours. Free coffee and
donuts will be served.
