Police Chief Finds That
It's Nicer In Newtown
According to a report published last week in The Hartford Courant, Newtown's
new police chief was a candidate for the newly-open position as Bristol's
police chief. The current chief in Bristol plans to leave that city to take a
job in Florida.
In that news item, Newtown Police Chief James Lysaght, Jr, reportedly stated
he might be interested in seeking the top Bristol law enforcement post.
Before starting work in Newtown in July, Mr Lysaght worked at the Bristol
Police Department for 24 years, rising to the rank of captain and serving as
second-in-command.
Asked this week whether he plans to pursue the Bristol police chief's job,
Chief Lysaght said "Not at all. Not at all."
The police chief insisted that he is not interested in seeking the Bristol
post and won't apply for it. Mr Lysaght, a Bristol resident, plans to move to
Newtown.
"It's nicer in Newtown," he said.
