Mother and child were reunited Wednesday afternoon following a 45-minute
missing child scare.
Emergency personnel reported to the residence at 50 Great Ring Road around
3:30 pm to help search for a missing 5-year-old girl. The 45-minute search
ended on a happy note, however, as Officer James Mooney found the 5-year-old
in a wooded lot adjacent to the house and promptly returned her to her mother.
According to Detective Robert Tvardzik, the child was not lost, but had
apparently wandered off.
Police did not release the identity of the child.
Firefighters assembled at the house but were delayed in their search by police
to await the arrival of state police search dogs, Det Tvardzik said.
In addition to police, Sandy Hook and Botsford volunteer fire departments and
the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the scene.
