Sexual Assault Charges Filed Against Trudeau
Newtown police have charged local businessman William A. Trudeau, Jr, with two
counts of first-degree sexual assault in connection with a complaint they
received from an unidentified female in August.
Police said that on October 21, they saw Mr Trudeau, 33, of 88 Riverside Road,
Sandy Hook, at his place of business, Trudeau's Service Center at 49 South
Main Street. Having an outstanding warrant for his arrest the sexual assault
charges, police called the police station for added manpower and then entered
Trudeau's building.
Police said they found Mr Trudeau in his office where they arrested him.
The Danbury Superior Court arrest warrant was issued last week, police said.
Police didn't disclose any details of the incidents which resulted in the
charges.
First-degree sexual assault is a Class B felony. The charge typically involves
a person using force to compel another person to engage in sexual intercourse.
A conviction requires a minimum one-year jail sentence.
After processing, police released Mr Trudeau on a $20,000 appearance bond for
a November 1 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.
