Fire Commissioners Appoint Marshals
At the Board of Fire Commissioners annual meeting on October 21 at the Mona
Lisa Restaurant, commissioners reappointed the town fire marshal and four
deputy fire marshals for the coming year.
George Lockwood, Sr, was reappointed town fire marshal.
Reappointed as deputy fire marshals were: Robert A. Brinley, Jr, Joseph
Cavanaugh, William Halstead, and Henry Stormer.
The Board of Fire Commissioners has seven members. It is responsible for the
financial management of the five volunteer fire companies in Newtown, as well
as overseeing town-owned fire apparatus and equipment.
Reappointed to one-year terms as officers on the board were: Chairman Kevin
Cragin, a civilian; and Vice Chairman Frank Johnson of the Hawleyville
Volunteer Fire Company.
Also serving on the board are: Lisa Goosman, a civilian; Rod Mauro of the
Dodgingtown Volunteer Fire Company; Bill McCarthy of the Newtown Hook and
Ladder Volunteer Fire Company; Jeff Nezvesky of United Fire Company of
Botsford; and Kimberly Sharp of the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire Company.
The board's secretary is Terry Hennessey. Its purchasing agent is Edgar Beers.
