Decorative Art At Eldred's

EAST DENNIS, MASS. -- Eldred's late fall Fine & Decorative Art Auction will be

Friday, December 11, at its galleries in East Dennis. The exhibit will be

Thursday, December 10, 10 am to 8 pm. This 600-lot sale features a large group

of estate jewelry, furniture, pottery and porcelain, paintings, prints, and

glass, as well as clocks, prints, books, and silver.

The jewelry includes a diamond and sapphire bracelet, a circular diamond

brooch, two bow-form platinum and diamond brooches, an 18K white gold and

diamond brooch, a diamond and sapphire platinum rings, and a 17K white gold

and platinum and pearl pendant. Other pieces are a pair of ornate Victorian

17K gold earrings with seed pearls and topaz stones, a pearl choker necklace,

an ornate 14K white gold diamond dinner ring, and two pairs of diamond

earrings.

The lamp section features an unusual pair of 25 inch tall cut glass table

lamps in the daisy and button pattern. There is an unusual ormolu-mounted

hanging blue porcelain globular clock with a pair of matching candelabra, and

a French brass carriage clock by Bigelow Kennard. Sculpture includes a bronze

female nude by P. Koniaozens and a bronze by P.J. Mene of a ram and a kid.

The pottery and porcelain section includes a 4.5 liter Mettlach stein, a

Moorcroft art pottery vase in pear shape, a collection of five Salvadore Dali

ceramic tiles, and a partial set of Royal Doulton dinner service in the

"Indian Tree" pattern.

The glass section offers a signed Baccarat millefiori paperweight, a Tiffany

favrile art glass vase, a pair of English silver-mounted scent bottles, a

Lalique crystal hood ornament, and a pair of oversize blown milk glass shades.

Furniture pieces include an Eighteenth Century Louis XV cylinder lady's desk,

a fine reproduction mahogany Chippendale chest-on-chest with eight drawers, a

fine mahogany Hepplewhite style sideboard, a three-drawer French Louis XIV

style dressing stand with parquetry design and ormolu mounts, and a Louis XV

Provincial walnut commode. There is a Charles Eames revolving desk chair, a

secretaire abattant with gray marble top, a carved oak English cabinet on

stand, and a Columbia Swiss eight-tune music box. A Sheraton style mahogany

dining table, six Queen Anne style dining chairs, Hepplewhite style two-

pedestal dining table in mahogany, and a Provincial fruitwood and walnut wall

rack will be sold.

Prints include "Rouen Cathedral #2" by Roy Lichtenstein, an important Mucha

poster "Gismonda -- Bernhardt Theatre...," a Bernard Buffet "Clown" print, 22

unframed French engravings of maps, prints by Hovsep Pushman, and a portfolio

of 15 prints by Rufino Tamayo.

Paintings include "The American Way: Hug #3" by Robert Indiana, a framed KPM

painting of a mother and child, "Westminster Bridge" by Felix Buhot (French

1847-1898), an oil by Antoine-Emile Plassan (French 1817-1903) of a little

girl holding a baby, an oil by Terrini titled "Ponte de Realto Venezia," and

an oil of flamingos feeding in a pond by Maurice Lemaitre. Other paintings are

by Olivier Foss, Arman Guerin, Maud Mary Mason, Bessie J. Howard, Louis V.

Pol, and many others. Forty Oriental room size and scatter rugs include

Meshed, Indo-Bidjar, Heriz, Kirman, Tabriz, Vessa, Mosul, and Kazak. For a
