WPCA Sets Hearings On Church Hill Line And Sewer Treatment Plant

The Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA) has scheduled a public hearing

for Thursday, November 2, on the construction of two major components of the

municipal sewer system.

The hearing, which is scheduled for 7:30 pm in the Alexandria Room at Edmond

Town Hall, will concern the town's acqusition of property easements for the

Church Hill Road area for sewer line installation and maintenence. It also

will address easements needed for the sewage treatment plant to be built at

the end of Commerce Road.

The WPCA has conducted such public hearings during the past year as the

sewering project has progressed through various sections of town.

At such hearings, property owners with holdings in the areas to be sewered are

able to make comments and raise questions abnout how the construction project

will affect their properties. Issues to be addressed at the hearing include

the planning, design, acquisition construction and equipping of the sewer

system.

Roads in the Church Hill Road area to be sewer include Church Hill Road,

Wendover Road, The Boulevard, Budd Drive, Dayton Street, Glen Road, Riverside

Road and Washington Avenue.

The sewer system is expected to be in operation by the summer of 1997. The

town is under a state pollution abatement order to rectify longstanding

groundwater pollution problems in Sandy Hook Center, the Borough and Taunton

Pond North. To do so, it is building a $30.4 million sewer system.
