P&Z Approves Decks For Nunnawauk Meadows

Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) members have approved allowing Newtown

Housing for The Elderly (NHE) to build wooden decks at its 120-unit Nunnawauk

Meadows rental apartment complex on Nunnawauk Road.

P&Z members concluded a public hearing on the application at a January 22

session. No one from the public commented on the proposal.

Attorney William Denlinger, representing NHE, asked P&Z members to approve a

sample set of deck construction plans for the housing complex.

"It's a relatively non-controversial issue," said P&Z Chairman Stephen Koch.

By approving a sample set of deck plans, the P&Z created a mechanism by which

a builder will only need to obtain a building permit for deck construction,

not secure an amendment to the special exception to the zoning regulations

which allowed the construction of the apartment complex.

P&Z members unanimously approved the deck construction proposal.
