Johns Hopkins Cites Local Students
(with cuts)
Johns Hopkins University recognized nine local young people in grades five
through eight for extraordinary achievement in Hopkins' Annual Talent Search,
the largest pre-college academic talent search in the world.
At the Newtown Middle School, David Bunger, Bethany Ober, and Tyler Wood were
recognized.
St Rose recipients were Simone Jamison, Kathleen Murphy, Michelle Serock, and
Brooks Smith. Haessly Frantz, who had attended St Rose school until recently,
was also selected for academic ability.
Newtown resident, Michael Pankowski, who attends St Mary School in Bethel was
also selected.
Using above-grade-level testing, the Talent Search offers students who
typically excel a unique opportunity to test the full extent of their verbal
and mathematical skills.
Tyler Wood said that "the test was difficult, but when you get your results,
it's interesting to be able to see where you rank nationally."
