BRIDES (special section) Gratuities
Gratuities will be included in most fees for products and services, but it is
customary to tip some of the people who will help make your day a success. The
information below offers proper protocol for each situation.
Clergy members (priest, minister, rabbi):
Groom gives donation to best man, who pays after the ceremony.
Civil ceremony official (judge, justice of the peace, city clerk):
Groom gives fee to best man, who pays after the ceremony.
Ceremony assistants (altar boys, sextons, cantors, organist):
Ceremony hosts pay church fee when billed. Pay tips after service.
Florist, baker, photographer, musicians, limousine driver:
Reception hosts pay bill upon receipt; add any tip to payment.
Waiters, waitresses, bartenders, table captains:
If included, host pays tips with bill. If not, pay after reception.
Powder room attendants, coat room attendants in hotels or clubs.
If a flat fee, reception hosts pay with bill. If not, pay after reception.
