The Newtown Police Department has released the name of a missing individual they have been actively searching for since earlier Monday. And officials are seeking the community's help finding the missing 71-year-old who was seen in the area of Hattertown and Eden Hill Roads Monday, August 11.

Police say Martin Lee Allen, 71, was last seen at his residence at about that time, and may still be in the area on foot. Mr Allen is Caucasian, 5’-9” tall, and about 118 lbs, with brown and grey hair, police said.

He may be wearing blue jeans, white Velcro sneakers, a black T-shirt with the name “Herman’s” and a basketball on it, according to police.

By nightfall officials had called in support from Newtown's CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and the state's volunteer police aviation unit with its helicopter seen flying over Fairfield Hills at about 8 pm fixed with banks of mounted searchlights.

Police Chief Michael Kehoe responded to a query about the helicopter sighting, indicating the town requested Eagle One for support. Eagle One is maintained by the Stratford Police Department.

The pilots and crew consist of police, fire and EMS personnel, all with military and/or civilian training. Eagle One provides 24-hour-a-day on call volunteers at no cost, according to its website.

Locally, Legislative Council member Neil Chaudhary was sighted heading out of a committee meeting wearing his CERT uniform. He said the civilian volunteer unit was being called to stage to assist with the search as well.

According to a Code Red emergency alert messages transmitted by the town this afternoon, the individual may be suffering from dementia.

Police had been searching for the man along the Route 302 corridor, among other areas, and ask anyone who encounters the missing individual to call 911, or 203-426-5841.

Local officials have called in the state's volunteer search and rescue helicopter Eagle One, and Newtown's CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) to support a search for a 71 years old Martin Lee Allan.
Police have released photos of the missing 71-year-old Martin Lee Allen, and are seeking the community's assistance in locating him.
