ON THE ROAD FOR AUGUST 1, 1997

This Friday night at The Garage in Newtown (that's the teen center building on

Church Hill Road), ORDINANCE 25 will return for its first show "in a long

time," band members say. The band is from Newtown mostly (the "foreigner" is

Kristina Newell, who lives in New Fairfield), and performs alternative-rock

type stuff. Along with Kristina, ordinance 25 members include Kevin Donovan,

Jon Jenkins, Darren Cesca and Chris Loring.

Also performing Friday night will be Jose Cruz. The show starts at 7:30 pm,

doors open at 7, and admission is just $2 to get in.

Alt-rock returns to Toad's Place in New Haven this month, when THE VERVE PIPE

and K'S CHOICE play there August 25. Good timing, too, since K's Choice's song

"I'm Not An Addict" is enjoying a huge resurgence in recent weeks on AR radio,

and The Verve Pipe has a short write-up in the latest issue of Spin . Nothing

too newsworthy, just some weird stuff about playing Church when some of the

boys were younger.

That's an all-ages show, and tickets are on sale. The last time K's Choice was

in the area was back on June 1, when the band was a featured performer at

Riverside Park for the Radio 104Fest.

Also new at the New Haven club is the area return by THE NIELDS, August 28.

(The Nields will also be playing locally this weekend, Sunday afternoon at the

SoNo Arts Festival in Norwalk, around 3 pm.) Another all-ages show, this one

will be opened by Michelle Malone and Cool Beans.

Because only 1,600 tickets had been sold and the show was less than a month

away, the BRYAN ADAMS concert scheduled for August 22 at The Meadows has been

cancelled. Anyone who has one of those 1,600 tickets can return them at their

original point of purchase for a full refund.

A free concert at Tuxedo Junction next Thursday night, sponsored by radio

station 98Q, has a triple bill of MEXICO 70, KIP WINGER and KYLE VINCENT.

Hmmmmmm

More new shows on the Danbury club's schedule include LOVE SPIT LOVE, all

ages, on Sunday, July 17; TESTAMENT, August 24, with Stuck Mojo and Young Lad;

and QUIET RIOT, on Thursday, September 18.

Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
