NVCC Open Houses For Health Care Careers & Physical Therapist Assistants

WATERBURY — Naugatuck Valley Community College has scheduled free information sessions for people interested in pursuing a career as a physical therapist assistant and health care-related careers.

The physical therapist assistant information sessions will be offered on Thursday, August 23, at 2 pm, and Tuesday, September 18, at 5:30 pm, in the Admissions Resource Room, Room K505 in Kinney Hall. Each session will include information about the Physical Therapist Assistant Program, the PTA admissions process and an overview of Naugatuck Valley Community College.

The Connecticut state system of Community Colleges offers an educational program leading to an associate in science degree as a physical therapist assistant. The full-time program takes two years to complete. For more information about the PTA program, call 203-596-8787.

On Tuesday, August 21, an open house will be held for people interested in re-entering or pursuing a career in health care, or currently working in the field. No appointment is necessary, but those who pre-register for the free program will have a chance to win a $50 gift certificate toward tuition for a credit-free course.

The open house is scheduled to take place from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on the campus in Ekstrom Hall, Room E620. Representatives from the college’s Center for Nursing and Allied Health Continuing Education will discuss upcoming programs available to nurses, radiologists, phlebotomists and respiratory providers. In addition, the session will highlight programs for those interested in becoming a certified aide or emergency medical technician.

For more information call 203-575-8029. The college’s main entrance is at 750 Chase Parkway.
