To the Editor:

I was born and raised in Bridgeport, Conn. I moved with my wife and two children to Newtown in 1987. My wife is a retired teacher/ librarian while my son teaches chemistry at Newtown High School. Our daughter works at St Vincent’s Hospital.

Since we moved to Newtown, I have served on many commissions. I presently serve as an elected official on The Zoning Board of Appeals. While being elected to the ZBA, I have also served on the Lake Lillinonah Authority and Fairfield Hills Authority. I also was co-chair for several years of the Commission on Aging. To date, while serving on the Lake Lillinonah Authority, I was involved with the closing of the railroad trash substation in Hawleyville. Serving on The Fairfield Hills Authority, I’ve secured the complete documentation of the facility from the State of Connecticut.

When I served as co-chair of the Commission On Aging, I worked with the first selectman and The Community Development team and acquired a $200,000 Small Town Grant to build the present addition to the existing Senior Citizens’ Center.

Thank you,

Ross Carley
