As summer softball season gives way the start of football, what better way to cap things off than with good old fashioned pigskin score-like slugfest?

Second-seeded Forest Construction Company piled up a dozen first-inning runs en route to a 22-16 victory over top-seeded Dental Associates in the Newtown Women’s Softball League championship game at Treadwell Park on August 6.

Jahna Ronca hit a two-run double to spark that big opening inning. Ella Iszczyszyn hit a triple in the win.

Dental Associates did not go down quietly. Caitlin Henke and Tori Tompkins both homered, and Tompkins ripped a two-run triple. Rosie Jackman also had a triple for Dental Associates.

Forest Construction defeated No. 3 Castle Hill Chocolate 12-8 in the playoff semifinals on August 2, and Dental Associates got past No. 4 Fairfield Home Loans 14-11 in the other semifinal.
