The Newtown Youth Football program is getting ready to begin the season, with games kicking off at Blue & Gold Stadium on Sunday, August 30. The teams have been hard at work practicing and working on skills in drills throughout the month of August. Camp opened August 3 with the slogan "Toughness Over Everything."

Newtown's sixth- and seventh-grade teams both reached Shoreline Youth Football Conference Championship games in 2025. Hawk teams in grades four through eight will look to qualify for the postseason, with third-graders focusing on development. Newtown has two seventh-grade teams due to a high volume of players in that group, and has 165 players in tackle football.

Opposing teams in the Shoreline Conference include Monroe, Pomperaug of Southbury, Wallingford, Southington, Glastonbury, Guilford, Cheshire, North Haven, East Haven, Shelton, Branford, Bristol, Madison, and Amity of Woodbridge.

“We are very excited for the 2026 season. Our players and coaches have been working extremely hard preparing physically and mentally to remain one of the most competitive programs top to bottom in the Shoreline Conference. The league doesn’t run without strong volunteer coaches and parents supporting them and filling a variety of volunteer roles throughout the season. We are serious about winning and even more serious about developing players as a feeder program for our high school team," League President Kevin Kuzma said.
