I’m writing to express my strong support of an outstanding Newtown candidate whom I have known for some time: Amybeth Laroche, who is running for State Senate. Amybeth understands and addresses the issues that face us as residents of Newtown and of Connecticut.

Amybeth is a working mother, homeowner and active member of our community. She is raising her daughter here and understands firsthand the challenges facing Newtown families. She is genuinely invested in our town and its future.

As a member of the Newtown Board of Finance, Amybeth has demonstrated a commitment to fiscal responsibility and thoughtful decision making. Before entering public service, she built her career in the private sector, where performance is measured by results and accountability matters. That practical experience is exactly what we need representing Newtown in Hartford.

Amybeth understands that Newtown residents are capable of making decisions for their own families and community. She has the knowledge and judgement to evaluate every issue with a commitment to preserving local control, protecting taxpayers and resisting unnecessary state mandates. She recognizes that Hartford should support our communities and not continually dictate how we must operate.

For years I have watched Hartford running out of our control in their quest to garner more and more power to the central government while bypassing the will of the people. We need to have our voices heard again. Connecticut needs stronger checks and balances and legislators willing to challenge the status quo. Amybeth will provide Newtown with an independent, results oriented voice focused on the people she represents.
