The Newtown High School Marching Band & Color Guard successfully concluded its 2020 band camp with its annual “Friday Night Under the Lights” performance on August 21.

After two weeks of modified four-hour practices, the Nighthawks band and guard performed pieces of its 2020-21 show, “The Incredible Nighthawks,” with music featured in the Pixar movie The Incredibles.

The show was performed in front of band and guard families during two separate performances in order to maintain social distancing.

Band Director Kurt Eckhardt said, “Despite only rehearsing half of our normal band camp hours, the kids got a lot accomplished. They worked very hard and it was obvious to me how hungry they were to again collaborate with their peers in person, and not virtually. If circumstances in the next few months allow, they will be presenting a fun, excellently performed show.”
