Newtown Police report that on August 24, Ian Wilson, 23, of Newtown, turned himself in to Newtown Police in connection with a recent vandalism at Newtown High School. He was charged with first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal trespassing, and reckless driving.

He is scheduled to appear in court on September 7.

Police had sought the public’s assistance in identifying the owners or occupants of a dark blue or green Chevy Silverado pickup prior to the arrest. The pickup was intentionally used to cause significant damage to a field at Newtown High School, according to the police department.

Within hours of the police posting the image on its social network sites, which showed the truck in question and at least two of the passengers as viewed from surveillance cameras, the department updated the notice to say the suspects had been identified.
