Robert C. Macomber, Sr

Robert Chase Macomber, Sr, 88, of Morningside Commons, Brattleboro, Vt., died August 28 at Eden Park Nursing Home in Brattleboro.

He was born August 29, 1911, in Westford, Vt., the son of Charles F. and Loula I. (Cobb) Macomber. He attended schools in Westford and Bellows Free Academy in Fairfax, Vt. He later attended the University of Vermont and graduated with a degree in civil engineering, class of 1933.

A former resident of Newtown, and Putney, Vt., he had made his home in Brattleboro since 1989.

Mr Macomber was formerly employed with the US Forest Service and later at the Harvey Hubbell Company Plastics Division in Newtown for many years.

He was a member of the Putney Lions Club and Hiram Lodge #18 F&AM in Sandy Hook.

His wife, the former Marion E. Piper, died in 1980.

Survivors include one son, Robert C. Macomber, Jr, of Princeton, Mass.; two daughters, Carol Bartz of Walpole, N.H., and Judith Hale of Bow, N.H.; one brother, Merle Macomber of Pittsford, Vt.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Sept 15 at 1 pm in Pleasant View Cemetery in Westford, Vt.
