Tercentennial Summer Events

September 5 — Newtown’s Tercentennial Labor Day Parade, begins 10 am, with Parade Marshal Mary Hawley (as portrayed as Beth Cluff), parade will follow traditional route from Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Monument on Main Street, turning onto Glover Avenue, and then turning onto Queen Street, and will feature plenty of fire departments, schools, marching bands, civic, and other groups participating.

September 10 — Opening reception for “History in The Making: Faces of Newtown,” C.H. Booth Library lower meeting room, 6–8 pm, new collection of 13 portraits by members of The Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists, depicting current and former leaders and active members of Newtown community, will remain on view until September 30.
