Paul Simon’s 70th Birthday Tribute

At Love & Knishes

SOUTHBURY — In recognition of music legend Paul Simon’s upcoming 70th birthday, Southbury singer-songwriter and guitarist Willie Nininger will offer a tribute show of Mr Simon’s songs at the Love & Knishes Lunch on Wednesday, September 7, at noon at the Jewish Federation, 444 Main Street North.

He will be joined by Woodbury vocalist Jan Scruggs.

Together they will perform some of the songs made famous by Simon & Garfunkel, as well as some of Mr Simon’s solo work. Willie Nininger has been performing Paul Simon’s songs since he attended Briarcliff High School in New York and is looking forward to sharing this show with a local audience.

On September 14, singer/guitarist Larry Ayce Crasilli and his wife Doreen return for an encore performance featuring more than a little bit of Nashville with their favorite ballads, country music, folk songs, and popular hits.

Crock Pot Cooking Revisited on September 21 features Judy Prager, nutritionist and registered dietician for the Senior Nutrition Program at New Opportunities in Waterbury. She will share some new recipes and discuss the nutritional and cost benefits and the ease of using a slow cooker. Guests will be entered into a raffle to win a brand new slow cooker.

All programs are open to the public. The lunch, which features salad, main course and dessert, is prepared by Jordan Caterers of Cheshire.

Reservations are requested by noon on the Monday before each program, and the suggested lunch donation is $7.50 for adults age 60 and better and $9.50 for those under 60. To RSVP, call Debby Horowitz, Brownstein Jewish Family Service Director, at 203-267-3177, extension 3.
