Bikers Ride To Beat Cancer

DANBURY — The American Cancer Society will hold the second annual Kick-It Motorcycle Ride on Sunday, September 26. The society invites everyone to celebrate those who have survived cancer and honor those for whom the answers did not come soon enough.

The Kick-It Ride, escorted by state and local police, begins with registration at Marcus Dairy, 5 Sugar Hollow Road, from 9:30 am to 11 am. Staging begins at 11 am and the ride begins at 11:30. Riders will proceed to Indian Wells State Park in Shelton on Route 110. There will be a picnic from 1:30 to 3 pm at the park.

Registration for the event includes lunch, entertainment, awards, raffle, and short ceremony. Cancer survivors will receive a gift of a bike flag or scarf. Prizes will be awarded to the top ten fundraisers.

Corporate sponsors for the event include Biker World, Bargain News, Bridgeport Harley-Davidson, Haymond Law Firm, Nova Med Corporation, Marcus Dairy, and 99.1 PLR.

The money raised by Kick-It riders will benefit the American Cancer Society’s ongoing battle to defeat cancers of all kinds through research, education, advocacy, and patient services. These funds make priceless programs such as Look Good…Feel Better, Road to Recovery, and Reach to Recovery available to Connecticut cancer patients. Cancer survivors and their families can also call the Society at 800-ACS-2345, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and trained cancer information specialists will help them with information and referrals and direct them to resources in their community. The American Cancer Society website, www.cancer.org, is one of the public’s most trusted sources of cancer information.
