'Grow For Show' Next Program For Town & Country Garden Club

On Wednesday, September 10, The Town and Country Garden Club of Newtown will present a special program by Ronnie Schoelzel titled “Grow for Show.”

The garden club is beginning to prepare for a judged flower show to be held next year in Newtown. Ms Schoelzel’s program will focus on how to prepare container grown plants and cut specimens for exhibit in the show as well as how to groom and transport exhibits.

Ms Schoelzel is well known in Connecticut for her involvement in the Litchfield Garden Club for many years. She has served in many positions in the club including president, program chairman, and head of the flower show committee.

She also has participated in a variety of positions in the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut. Ms Schoelzel is also a popular speaker on a variety of garden related topics.

All are invited, whether members of the public or other garden clubs. The program is for anyone interested in learning more about the art of organizing and putting on a flower show.

The program begins at 7 pm, and will be at Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Rioad in Sandy Hook. There is no charge.
