Roger Green, 74, of St Thomas, US Virgin Islands, a longtime former resident of Newtown, died suddenly August 2. He was the son of the late Ben Green and the late Margaret (McGrath) Esposito.

He graduated from Bridgeport University, and served as an Air Force corpsman. He was a successful entrepreneur, owning two companies before retirement to St Thomas.

He enjoyed spending time at the beach at his Kennebunkport, Maine, home during the summer, and sailing. Mr Green had a deep love for animals, including the family dog, Buddy. He enjoyed reading about history, listening to crooners, and reading the finance section of the newspaper, as well as Sunday dinners with the family. Mr Green is recalled as  kind, generous, and genuinely interested in the people he knew. He was a quintessential family man and was happiest when making other people happy. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

His wife of 50 years, Thelma (Balash) Green, daughter Kelli Green, and son Jason Green, as well as many good friends, survive Mr Green.

Private services took place last month.

Munson and Lovetere, 235 Main Street North, Southbury, is in charge of the cremation.

Memorial donations may be made to Humane Society of St Thomas, 7041 Nadir Homes 26, St Thomas VI 00802, or charity of one’s choice.
